The Gili Islands, off the coasts of Lombok, Indonesia, bring hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the globe each year to embrace their majestic blue waters and swim with the oldest living reptiles on earth, Sea Turtles.
The sad reality though is that Western development and tourism is impacting important nesting sites. Add in pollution i.e. plastic inhalation and artificial light, boat strikes, diminishing sea grass beds, coral dieback, and egg theft, and we have a real problem.
There is still time, and we can make a difference to turn the trajectory around, but we need to act now.
